How well do you know YOUR friends?

How well do you know YOUR friends?

How would you feel if your closest friend was killed for the sake of you being able to be set free? Do you have one friend that would literally take a beaten for you? Do you have just one friend that would carry a huge cross for you? Do you have one friend that would let someone drive nails into their hands and feet for you? Think about it, would you do those things for just one of your friends? What about for your family, would you take their torture so they could go free?

Well, my friend, “Jesus is our friend and has been crucified so we may be set free.”

Well, why is the death of Jesus “our friend” different from any other friend? Hmm, glad you asked… If you’re still reading at this point, I encourage you to continue, it’s not by chance this came up in your news feed.  It’s by GOD and GOD alone.

On a daily basis we put so much trust, love & confidence into “people” but, we cannot put even a small amount in the Lord?  Where exactly does GOD fall in your friends list? Do you stop and thank him for that blessing, before you jump onto social media and tell the world? Do you stop and pray about your circumstances before you jump onto social media and ask for prayers and tell all your problems? What’s wrong with this picture?

Did you know that if your friend was being beaten, tortured or even killed for you – IT will NOT get you ANYWHERE!  Sure, it will take you to the deepest depths of sorrow, pain and strife but, not to any place of eternal paradise.

You see, Jesus is our ultimate friend.  He literally suffered, bled and died for our sins so that, we may have everlasting life.  His purpose in life was to be the light of the world. John 8:12 “I am the light of the world.  He who follows Me shall not walk in darkness, but have the light of life.”  If you follow the Lord, you will not walk in darkness.  You will have everlasting life, not on this cruel earth but, in Heaven with our creator.

Friends are very good to have but, when we start putting more faith into our worldly friendships, than in the Lord’s friendship….. That’s where a problem begins.  When Jesus was crucified on that cruel cross at Calvary, he paid our debt.  We owe nothing to get into Heaven.  All we need to do is call upon the name of the Lord – Romans 10:13 for, “Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved.” Joel 2:32 “And it shall come to pass that whoever calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved.” Acts 2:21 “And it shall come to pass That whoever calls on the name of the Lord Shall be saved.”

You see we have many scriptures to back up the fact that if you call upon the name of the Lord, you will be saved.  How many times do we call on our friends, or how many times do you simply text your friends and need help? How many times have our friends bailed on us, for something or “someone” else? Well you see Jesus is our ultimate friend, he’s not gonna fail us, he loves us and will be there no matter the circumstances. No matter what time of the day/night it is, Jesus is there to answer our call, no phone on silent, no ringer turned off – He’s there, ready to answer!  Where does he fall in your friend’s list?  Is giving the Lord your time at the top of your to-do list, before you call your friend for a ride to school, or for your friend to come have morning coffee, whatever you may ask your friend to do – is the Lord put before them?

I encourage you today to take some time and evaluate where you are with the Lord.  1) Do you know the Lord as your savior, have you asked Him to come into your life and be the only God? 2) If you haven’t called upon him for salvation, please do before it’s too late.  Yes, it will come a time that it’s too late.  You can’t call upon him once you draw your final breath.   For the bible tells us in Matthew 10:33 “But whoever denies Me before men, him I will also deny before MY Father who is in heaven.”

Friends, I myself struggle with this very issue sometimes. Stopping and giving God the time he deserves in my life.  I bring you these notes from my studying to hopefully help you, and not make you feel as though I think I’m above this.  The only time I will be above this, is when I’m in heaven.  I love you all, and please if there is anyone that reads this and needs to know the Lord, message me, I will provide you with the biblical information and guidance you need to ask Jesus into your heart.

May God richly bless each of you!
